Kinderlaunch Pilot Program

Haysville Public Schools is thrilled to announce the district's new initiative Kinderlaunch, a new pilot program designed for incoming Kindergarteners at Nelson Elementary, Prairie Elementary, and Ruth Clark Elementary. This innovative program aims to enhance our student placement process, ensuring a balanced and positive learning environment for all children.

What is Kinderlaunch?

Kinderlaunch is a carefully structured initiative focusing on comprehensive student assessment to optimize classroom placements.

Key Dates and Events:

  • August 1: Join us for a parent information meeting at Nelson Elementary, with sessions at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Meet the principals from Nelson, Prairie, and Ruth Clark, along with the Assistant Superintendent for Learning Services, to learn more about the program and ask any questions.
  • August 13: Open house event for all Kindergarten students, providing an opportunity to meet their teachers.
  • August 14-16 & 19: Kindergarteners will participate in various group activities and assessments, allowing staff to observe and interact with them in different settings. This will help determine the best classroom placements.
  • August 20: No school for Kindergarteners as our staff analyzes the collected data to finalize classroom assignments. Parents will be notified of their child's teacher.
  • August 21: The first official day of school for Kindergarteners, where they will join their new teacher and classmates.

Program Structure: During the Kinderlaunch days, students will be assigned to groups (identified by color, number, letter, or shape) to ensure stability. Throughout the day, they will rotate through different activities with various teachers and peers, allowing for thorough observations and assessments. This approach helps us understand each student’s unique needs and strengths.

We encourage all parents to attend the August 1st meeting at Nelson Elementary to learn more about this exciting initiative.
