Nonresident Student Enrollment
Thank you for considering out-of-district enrollment with Haysville Public Schools, where the relentless pursuit of excellence in education is not just a goal, but a way of life. Our dedicated teachers, supportive staff, and comprehensive programs ensure that each child receives the personalized attention and resources they need to thrive.
The Kansas Legislature passed Kansas House Bill 2567 during the 2022 legislative session which was signed into law, requiring all school districts in the state to allow open enrollment for nonresident students, if space is available, beginning in the 2024-2025 school year. The district determines space availability by reviewing current and projected enrollment, as well as classroom enrollment projections.
Per statute, priority is given to military students, students in the custody of the Department of Children and Families, and, in future years, to any sibling who has already been accepted to enroll in our schools, as long as there are open spots for those siblings. Once a student has been accepted, he or she can remain a Haysville student until graduation, provided the student meets the attendance and behavioral expectations specified in the policy. Out-of-district families will be notified by July 15 if they have been accepted to enroll for that school year.
- Transportation: Must be arranged by parents/guardians. Haysville Public Schools does not provide transportation for nonresident students.
- KSHSAA Eligibility: Nothing in this policy or state law shall exempt a nonresident student who transfers into the district from the Kansas State High School Activities Association (“KSHSAA”) Transfer Rule
- School Placement: Families cannot request a specific school. Students will be placed based on space availability.
